20 Years!

Have you ever looked at a large, old tree and wondered how long it has been there? It’s amazing to think that, at one point, that gigantic tree was merely a tiny seed.

In the same way, our words and actions are seeds; and we will always reap a harvest on what we sow. What are you sowing into the lives around you? What are you sowing into your future? Are you sowing encouragement, hope, blessing, and love? Then that’s what you’ll reap in the future. But if you’ve been sowing criticism, judgment, and anger, you’re probably already reaping a bad harvest.

I have reaped a very great harvest, 21 + years ago today my wife and I met. 20 years ago on this date we were married it has been humbling and awesome. The seed we planted many years ago has grown and thrived, we are more in love today and it grows tremendously with each and every year. It is hard to imagine that this gigantic tree was merely a tiny seed 20 years ago.

I send my love to all of my family my friends and to all I have ever known in my life.

I have never held any hatred in my heart for any person I have ever known. I have tried to never judge, feel envy, contempt or anger anyone. Looking back, I think the lack of hate in my life is what helped fertilize and grow the few seeds I have planted in my life.
Including the seed of my own life that I have ignored and left unfed many times in my life.
We will always reap what we sow.

God help us all.

A Bounce Back Person

Be a Bounce Back Person

A bounce-back person sees adversity and every setback not as permanent, but temporary. It’s not going to last forever. Every difficulty that comes your way, you can be encouraged by it, knowing that you’re going to come out better than you were before. Why is that? Because it is in our DNA. God created us and intends us to walk in the same power which raised Christ from the dead, that same overcoming power and attitude that even the grave can’t keep down.

Studies prove that during a hurricane, a palm tree will simply stretch and not break from the strong winds. It’s bent and pushed over, and all the while, it’s root system is actually being strengthened and given new opportunities for growth. That is the same way we were built to be. It even says in Psalm 92:12, “The righteous will flourish like a palm tree.” That means God knew there would be difficult times in our lives, that things would come against us, trying to steal our joy, peace and victory. He’s not surprised by our difficulties, but rather knew ahead of time and equipped us with everything we need in Him! Because we have strong roots, we are going bounce right back. The storms in life will come. The winds will blow. But no weapon formed against us will prosper!

Sunday trip to airport to pick - up flowers

Half way and had to pull over and set under a bridge to wait out the worst part of the storm. I think in the second cloud photo there is a small vortex forming up in the left upper part of the picture? But Pam had to have the flowers for her 5:30 AM route Monday morning!

To My Mom, And all the Mom's out there!

Dear Mom

Not so long ago
We were babes in your loving arms
We were kids playing in your backyard
We were young teens riding our bikes
We were teenagers spreading our wings
We were young adults seeking your advice
You were with us through all these things
Through good times and bad
We can never forget all the love you gave
The hugs and kisses we craved
We only want to say
On this special day
You have been the angel at our side
A mom who gave us love and pride
We always keep you in our night time prayers
We will always remember you
Holding us in your old rocking chair

Happy Mothers Day

Marci Cook

Marci Cook
You’re on my mind
It’s been years ago
That you were mine
It seems to me only yesterday
We were laughing, sharing, loving
In our own special way
I don’t mind telling you Marci
That I really do love you
They say the first love
You never forget
But I’m afraid you’ve forgotten
Has time taken its toll
Or have you tried
To forget me

May 23. 1972 (Gulf of Anadyr, Russia) Somewhere we were not suppose to be!

We were told if we were caught everything would be O.K. (name rank and serial number)
Yes Sir!…… Sir! Yes Sir!
So anyway, I wrote this for a guy who used to read the crap I wrote while we were at sea.
He had a girl back home that he would talk about all the time named Marci Cook –
I really liked the name Marci Cook. Bob was a great guy and friend –
He asked if I could write him something for her as us being where we were, we were all scared, lonely and stupid. So I wrote this for him/her….
I think he sent it to her

An Old One!

If I was made of clay
You could mold me as you please
Then you could rightfully say
I’m the person you want me to be
If my mind was made of circuits
And electronic memory banks
You could rewire me to bid you many thanks

Limerick

NATURE AND THE FINGER
Nature
Impersonal inescapable
Beautiful generous yet unsympathetic
Life
Human’s animals and plants
They live their short time
Here, yet gone in a instant
Their places filled so fast
Scarcely missed
The oceans the mountains
The stars the sky’s seem to last
Yet even they change and die
Their time appears not as abrupt
Geological universal age cosmos
Earthly physical epoch
Death
Everything known and unknown
Born merely to end
Place your finger in a pool of water
Remove it
What is left is entirely what was
Were we ever here
Look into the motionless pool of water
Unchanged unaffected as if untouched
We see we never were
The universe is a larger pool
The finger thus far not removed
We are just insignificant fools
Nature beautiful generous unsympathetic
Infinite immeasurable so vast
Remove the finger and thus heavens existence will not last

I don't remember writing this!

I don't remember writing this but found it in my documents?

After thinking and looking, I found this to be part of Charles Hanson Towne works!
(1877-1949)

The days go by and weeks rush on
And before I know it a year is gone
Life is a swift and terrible race
But tomorrow comes and tomorrow goes
And the distance between us grows and grows
And that's what we get and deserve in the end
Around the corner a vanished friend

Space Shuttle Design Feature

Does the statement, "We've always done it like that" ring any bells?

The US standard railroad gauge (distance between the rails) is 4 feet, 8.5 inches.
That's an exceedingly odd number. Why was that gauge used?

Because that's the way they built them in England, and English expatriates built the US Railroads.

Why did the English build them like that?

Because the first rail lines were built by the same people who built the pre-railroad tramways, and that's the gauge they used.

Why did "they" use that gauge then?

Because the people who built the tramways used the same jigs and tools that they used for building wagons, which used that wheel spacing.

Okay! Why did the wagons have that particular odd wheel spacing?

Well, if they tried to use any other spacing, the wagon wheels would break on some of the old, long distance roads in England, because that's the spacing of the wheel ruts.

So who built those old rutted roads?

Imperial Rome built the first long distance roads in Europe (and England) for their legions. The roads have been used ever since.

And the ruts in the roads?

Roman war chariots formed the initial ruts, which everyone else had to match for fear of destroying their wagon wheels. Since the chariots were made for Imperial Rome, they were all alike in the
matter of wheel spacing.

The United States standard railroad gauge of 4 feet, 8.5 inches is derived from the original specifications for an Imperial Roman war chariot. And bureaucracies live forever.

So the next time you are handed a specification and wonder what horse's ass came up with it, you may be exactly right, because the Imperial Roman army chariots were made
just wide enough to accommodate the back ends of two war horses.

Now for the good part .... the twist to the story .....

When you see a Space Shuttle sitting on its launch pad, there are two big booster rockets attached to the sides of the main fuel tank. These are solid rocket boosters, or SRBs.

The SRBs are made by Thiokol at their factory at Utah. The engineers who designed the SRBs would have preferred to make them a bit fatter, but the SRBs had to be shipped by train from the factory to the launch site.

The railroad line from the factory happens to run through a tunnel in the mountains. The SRBs had to fit through that tunnel.

The tunnel is slightly wider than the railroad track, and the railroad track, as you now know, is about as wide as two horses' behinds.

So, a major Space Shuttle design feature of what is arguably the world's most advanced transportation system was determined over two thousand years ago by the width of two horse's ass's.

What you achieve in your lifetime,
Is directly related to what you do or fail to do.
No one chooses his parents or childhood.
But you can choose you own directions.
Everyone has problems and obstacles to overcome.
But that to is relative to each individual.
Nothing is carved in stone.
You can change anything in your life, if you want to badly enough.
Those who take responsibility for their actions are the real winners in life.
Winners meet life's challenges head on, knowing there are no guarantees,
They give it all they've got, and never think it's too late or too early to begin.
Time plays no favorites, and will pass whether you act or not.
Take control of your life.
Dare to Dream and take risks!
Compete.

Life / Death....Light

As for a man, his days are as grass: as a flower of the field, so he flourisheth.

Life is neither a good nor an evil; it is simply the place where good and evil exist.

Children begin by loving their parents: as they grow older they judge them: sometimes they forgive them.

The Mole

I am a traveler,
Experienced and practical.
“I tell you categorically there is no such thing as light”
Said the mole….

Hello

I am at work so cannot think or take to long!
Wish I were out in the woods or somewhere far away.
In my mind I am most always somewhere distant and wild.
I am never far away from my place in the wilderness.
I fish every stream again and again each time I get a moment to myself.
I walk old paths; see the forests game trails that only I think I can see!
I sit on a high and lonely cliff and look off into the woods.
I whistle to my dog that has been off on her own all day.
She sits and we share a quiet bite to eat, then off we go, she to explore!
Me to search for new fishing holes or a large growth of wild ginseng.
That’s it as I go back into the real world.
My old dog is long dead, the woods are far away.
Phones are ringing, people are running about.
It’s there world where I am now.
If only they could know the places I have been.
I think most flatlanders could not know the beauty the contentment the tranquility the peace of being alone with only nature, miles from anything manmade!
God help us all....

My backdoor sunrise
