WINTER

I Love it, Winter is my favorite time of the year.
I seem to come alive as the weather turns coolder.
I like the cood mornings, the fresh crisp air.
I feel like doing more.
I have a daughter out there somewhere, I read her blog.
I have not seen or heard from her in eighteen years, I miss her!
I wish I could just get an email or phone call.
But for now I have found her blog (grandma sent it to me)
So, I read it each and every day.
It is like we are two of the same.
She writes her feelings and they are the same feeling I am having.
It is really amazing the things we have in common.
I love her so much it hurts.
Winter!

Saint Augustine said....

Saint Augustine said "The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page."
Life is a gift that we all tend to overlook. The moments pass by and you realize that there is so much more that you could be doing but yet you continue to follow a path without questioning where it leads. You drive by a fountain or lake on your to work and ask yourself "Why can't I sit down and put my feet in the water and enjoy the day." You smile to yourself and head towards the entrance of your office building. Maybe tomorrow.......................

Maybe then.

“I'm going to go be happy.”

"Today I am going to put my feet in the water!"

A block of wood

A block of wood

We take a block of fine strong wood and mold it as the years go by.
We smooth, we feel, we sand, and we put our entire being into the shape.
We take a chip here, we carefully think about each and every dimension.
We find the finest sail to wrap our creation in.
We pass this on to our children to complete.
They chisel; shape, sand, and polish to build their ship of life.
They wash, sew, shape and smooth the sail.
We watch from afar, our dreams and fears molded into the wood and sail.
We watch as they launch their small ship into the vast ocean of life.
We see the wind catch the sail, the ship moves toward the horizon.
We see them turn smile, and wave goodbye.
We wave, we smile, we sing, we try not to cry.
The happiness of the bee the dolphin is to exist.
For our children it is to marvel at it all.
We have given them the courage to discover the whole.
We realize they are only on a small ship of wood and sail.
They open their sail to the winds and to the world beyond.
They will move the rudder in whatever direction they please.
We have helped shape their passage, with this wood and sail.
But the sea, the wind, the wonders and the world are theirs.
The small ship slowly slips over the horizon.
Sailing away to some faraway land.
We turn and begin to walk our lonely path.
Father and Mother hand in hand.
We look back as the setting sun falls over the sea.
We are searching for the sail.
Wishing we were there, steering the craft.
However.
Knowing, We helped build a strong ship to last.
